Discover Cashmere In the center of Washington nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains is the community of Cashmere. Cashmere is truly picturesque surrounded by state and federal forests as well as local orchards. Color abounds during the growing season with pear, apple, cherry, and peach trees. Cashmere dates back to the 1860s when a Catholic missionary came to the area to set up a school for American Indians. Settlers followed during the next two decades. Groups can explore the history of the area at the Chelan County Historical Society's Pioneer Village and Museum. Twenty original pioneer structures including homes, shops, railroad cars, and waterwheel, make up the village. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a trip to Liberty Orchards Candy Factory and taste their famous Aplets and Cotlets. Free factory tours shows each group the candy-making process. Cashmere features various shopping areas. From fruit stores to antiques, groups will surly find the perfect gift to take home or maybe to keep for themself. Outdoor adventure is in abundance around the area. Peshastin Pinnacles State Park features rock climbing. Back packing and biking trails can be found at places such as Red Mountain and Devil's Gulch Trails. Numerous trail heads offer outstanding mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Take along your camera for spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains. Enjoy Cashmere year-round at one of their many community events. Founder's Day celebrates the community's Pioneer Heritage. Held the last weekend in June, enjoy a parade, crafts, food, music, performances, and prizes. Chelan County Fair takes place the weekend after Labor Day. Celebrate Cashmere's history during the first weekend in October at Apple days. Apple Days takes place at Pioneer Village where groups can see and hear costumed guides perform and explain different pioneer activities. Enjoy baked goods of every description and more.
