The apple harvest ofically ends with a celebration every year in Cashmere the first weekend of October at the Cashmere Museum and Pioneer Village.
Featured on a special television Food Network show three years ago, the annual event continues drawing visitors from all over the U.S. inntrigued by views of the old fashioned village. The twenty origional pioneer cabins in the Village date back to the late 1800's, and were homesteads in the surrounding hills of Chelan and Douglas Counties. Each cabin is hosted by a local resident dressed in period costume bringing pioneer times to life.
The Oregon Trail Travelers Visit the event every year, setting up their tents and demonstrating life on the trail.
Throughout the weekend, vendors sell their wares, local magicians wave their spells, musicians play and singers perform for the crowd. Always a big attraction, Sheriff Price and his deputies have shoot-outs with those pesky robbers at the Saloon in the Village several times during the weekind.
The museum houses intriguing Native American artifacts and pioneer displays. Outdoor murals on the walls highlight the story of the Wenatchee River, beginning with the salmon fishilng by the Native Americans, and showing the use of the water for irrigation of the orchards. The Stoffel Waterwheel spews water at the river's edge at the end of the story.
